Manchester and its surroundings unfold as a landscape of contrasts, where industrial memory intertwines with everyday life.

The narrative takes shape along the streets, in the suburbs, and in nearby towns like Oldham or Uppermill—reached by bus rides and casual trajectories that reveal ever-new glimpses. From the top deck, as from a suspended observatory, the gaze lingers on details that weave the city’s fabric.

The red bricks of the Victorian era trace lines back to a past of factories and revolution. Around them, the canals of Castlefield and the elevated trains still echo that age, while today Manchester thrives as a cultural hub.

Amid this urban dimension emerge gestures of daily life and fleeting human encounters: a man watering his garden near Salford University, proud workers bearing the city’s bee symbol, two boys in Uppermill rediscovering childhood with an ice lolly.

Black-and-white film, chosen instinctively, suspends these places in an essential dimension. It invites a slower gaze—one that moves through pauses, details, and unexpected moments.

Between Walls is both a travel diary and a silent homage: a portrait of a city poised between memory and present, industry and intimacy, the hardness of work and the sweetness of the everyday.
