The Time Before

Alessia and Stefano are two friends who chose me to document one of the most important moments of their lives: the anticipation of a new life.

 

Together, we built these images by allowing two of their greatest passions—fashion and motocross—to become part of the story. Two seemingly distant worlds that naturally found their place within this particular moment of their lives.

For me, this was a particularly meaningful and interesting project: an opportunity to enter, through photography, the intimacy of such a personal moment, while finding a way to tell their story through the things that represent them most.

​

More than simply documenting a pregnancy, these images try to preserve something more fragile and unrepeatable: that suspended moment in which a life is about to change forever, while, for just a little longer, everything is still exactly as it is.

All photographs were shot on 35mm and 120 film.
